I have always had really sensitive skin, that’s why I have to protect it really well.
Especially now during my make up artistry study, it has to face the extra stress of several full make up applications a day.
While I am improving my skills and enjoying the progress and challenge, my skin does not like it at all.
Since I have been trained in skincare and cosmetology for many years now I felt it’s time to share some secrets.
To keep the glow and the skin healthy under extreme conditions here are my skin saving tips for you:
Keep your skin care routine simple! Less is more.
Here are my 7 steps to a healthy and happy skin:
1. invest in a very good extra mild cleanser
Use this cleanser EVERY night before bed.
I am using EVE LOM cleanser, that removes all make-up including waterproof mascaras, gently exfoliates for a healthy glow,
and tones the skin all using a posh little muslin cloth.
The skin feels clean and soft and even my dry skin doesn’t feel tight afterwards.
Friends of mine that were suffering from acne helped this cleanser as well, it works.
A plus is the procedure which includes a relaxing face massage that improved the functions of my skin BIG TIME.
2. invest in a good moisturizer.
If your skin is sensitive stay away from all “active” ingredients.
What really helps my extra dry skin in winter is EVE LOM TLC cream. An extra thick cream that is great as overnight treatment and doubles as rich eyecream as well.
I also like Caudalie Vinosourse Riche which is great under make up because it doesn’t feel greasy, while keep my skin moist all day. A good moisturizer is key to a good make up.
If your skin is oily don’t apply too much moisturizer, “listen” to your skin and only apply where you are feeling dehydrated.
3. Wear an SPF during the day. Either in your daily moisturizer or your foundation.
I don’t burn easily at all, but the skin will still get damaged if exposed to the sunlight EVEN WITHOUT BURNING and the long time results are pre mature ageing and pigmentation/age spots.
4. Apply a cleansing/balancing Mask once a week.
Clay masks and dead sea salt masks work best they will give you a deep but gentle cleanse.
5. Treat your neck and decollete like your face,
NOT like your body. Use your moisturizer here as well.
6. Take care of your hands:
Apply a rich hand cream over night, and one with SPF during the day.
Hands will otherwise show signs of pre mature ageing.
7. Thermal Water Spray
Always a carry a thermal water face spritz to calm down redness, refresh the skin in summer or to set make up.
Great ones are by Vichy or La Roche Posay, while Evian is a great option when you are on a budget.
This is my basic routine. I hope it will help you as well.
